Sockers rally for 2-1 win on road against Brilla

CLINTON, Miss. — After almost a two-week layoff, Midland/Odessa Sockers FC overcame a 1-0 first half deficit to defeat the Mississippi Brilla, 2-1 on Thursday night at Traceway Park.
 
The Brilla struck in the 17th minute on a goal by Newton Henry that was assisted by Jake McCain. The equalizer for the Sockers came in the second half as Jade Masias scored his second goal of the season on a free kick from 20 yards out in the 58th minute.
 
Grant Mobley would net the eventual game-winner in the 68th minute as he knocked the ball in after Jaakko Hietikko's shot bounced off of the goalpost.
 
The Sockers are now 6-1-2 and remain atop the table in the Mid South division with 20 points. The two teams will play again on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
 
The next home match for the Sockers will be on Saturday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Grande Communications Stadium when they host Saint Louis FC U23. Following that match, there will be an Indepdence Day Fireworks show.
