Sockers Continue PDL Play with Inaugural Match Versus Oklahoma City FC
MIDLAND, TX—Facing their third match in five days, Sockers FC (0-2-1, 1 point) looks for some much-needed points against division-leading Oklahoma City FC (2-1-0, 6 points) on Saturday night at Grande Communications Stadium.
On Thursday, the Sockers dropped a tough, physical match to the Houston Dutch Lions, 4-1.  The Club is currently tied for fifth in the Premier Development League Mid-South division, five points behind Oklahoma City and the Austin Aztex, both of whom have six points in the young season.
Oklahoma City is led by forward Adam Black, who recorded his first career hat trick in the team’s 3-0 victory over the El Paso Patriots on Thursday night.  In just three matches this season, the Liverpool, England, native leads the nation in points (10), goals (5), and shots (11).
The team also has a West Texas connection, as reserve goalkeeper Ray Clark appeared in five matches for the Sockers last summer.
For the Sockers, this match should be, perhaps, the first true picture of the talent of the team, as the entire roster will be available to participate in the game.  For the first three PDL contests, the end of several players’ collegiate semesters did not allow them to participate.  With the full squad on the pitch, the team is hoping for a much stronger offensive performance.
“All of our players have had very good success in college,” Sockers assistant general manager Jeff VonHolle said.  “We know how talented they are, so having them all playing together should be a tremendous boost for the team.”

On Saturday, the first 1,000 kids (14 and under) will receive a free replica jersey.  The stadium gates open at 6:30 p.m., and kick-off is at 7:30.
