Sockers FC light up Houston Regals

Sockers earn a 1st Rd bye, will host on July 11th
Fireworks weren't the only thing lighting up the sky on July 4th. The Sockers FC clinched the #2 overall seed in the LoneStar Conference and a 1st Rd bye by defeating the Houston Regals 6-0, on a July 4th crowd of 1,230 fans. With this being the last game of the regular season the Sockers FC will now head into the playoffs where they will await the results to play 1 of 3 teams at home on Wednesday July 11th at Grande Communications stadium. The Sockers FC took control early as Maxilliano Galizzi scored the 1st goal in the 7th minute of action. That was quickly followed by Andres Felipe Rodriguez in the 9th minute with his first of 2 goals in the match. The score remained 2-0 going into halftime. In the second half, the Sockers FC got to attack down wind as Andres Felipe Rodriguez scored his 2nd goal in the 51st minute. Houston Regals, who did not have a deep bench, looked tired and deflated as the Sockers scored a barrage with 3 more goals: Galindo(55'), Faria(69'), and Jack Chambers hit the exclamation point with a goal in stoppage time (90'). Tickets will be on sale right away for their July 11th match to face either the Dutch Lions of Houston, Ft. Worth Vaqueros, or FC Brownsville.
