Sockers destroy Brilla 5-1![]() The Sockers FC earn another 3 points in the standings as they beat the Mississippi Brilla 5-1, at Grande Communications Stadium last night. Rory Knibbs scored two goals: the first in the 20th minute and his second in the 58th minute an an assist to lead the surging Sockers past the Brilla.
The first goal came in the 17th minute by Mario Alvarez from Rory Knibbs to lead the charge. Not long after, in the 20th minute, Tucker Hume assisted Rory Knibbs to make the score 2-0. The Brilla fought hard in the 1st half and players on both sides were getting knocked around with a couple of yellow cards issued on both sides. A red card was given to Mississippi Brilla, Lenny Card, after a collision with the Socker Goalie Clint Long, after both men were down it looked as if Lenny kicked Long after the play was blown dead, much to Lenny's chagrin. By half-time the score was 2-1 in favor of the Sockers. During the second half, the Sockers came out determined, poised and aggressive. Alberto Garcia scored the 3rd goal for the Sockers, unassisted, in the 56th minute. Soon after Rory Knibbs scored his second goal of the game in the 58th minute. Coach Matt Barnes gave Rory Knibbs the rest of the night off around the 75th minute substituting Rory Knibbs for Jordan Slack. Slack picked up right where Rory left off, by scoring the final goal of the game in the 85th minute.

The Sockers FC are now (3-3-1) with 10 pts in the standings to move into second place in the division, while the Brilla fall to 4th place with a (2-3-2) record. The Sockers next home game will be this Saturday June 14th at Grande Communications Stadium, at 7:30 CST in a rematch with the Mississippi Brilla. Click here to purchase tickets.
