Sockers and Heat end in a stand still

The Sockers FC and the Laredo Heat played to a 1-1 tie at Grande Communications Stadium this past Saturday Night.

The first half the Sockers FC came out aggressive as Byron Knowles found forward Tucker Hume for the first goal of the game in the 8th minute.

After the goal the Heat got more aggressive and finally broke threw the Socker defense in the 40th minute with a goal by Salvador Luna, assisted by Estebon Bayona.

The second half, was a defensive struggle on both sides.  Even with Matt Barnes substituting fresh legs to wear down the Heat's defense.  The goals just couldn't get in.  Several times there were shots on goals by the Sockers, and they would just barely miss soaring over the crossbar, or just being tipped out of the way by the Heat.

The Sockers FC are now 4-3-2 with 14 points while the Heat are now 3-2-3 with 12 points.  Though the Sockers still lead the Heat by two points, they will have their toughest stretch to finish the season with 4 out of their last 5 matches on the road.

The Sockers will travel to face Mississippi Brilla(2-4-2) next Friday June 27th.

The Sockers next home will be on Saturday July 5th to take on the 1st place Austin Aztex(6-0-1) which will feature post -game fireworks.
